The different theological models of mission proposed by Justo L. González and Dorothea Sölle:
- Type A is mission as saving souls and extending the church;
- Type B is mission as discovery of the truth;
- Type C is mission as commitment to liberation and transformation.
Type C is the most compatible with the Orthodox Ethos.

Perhaps Type C is most compatible because of the purpose of Orthodox Mission is a turning of hearts to God. Mission is about restoration, healing, offering the world back to God. About encountering, identifying and helping ourselves and others "find and attain the Kingdom of God, to overcome sin by His power, to be transformed into the Light of His Blessedness."
Perhaps mission is less about doing and more about being and becoming? Perhaps becoming and being holy because of our encounter with the Holy of Holies.
